Our district has an aging population, which is indicative of the climate in the city; 20% of New Yorkers are estimated to be 60 or above by 2030. We need to rebuild the vital social services that seniors rely on now and will in the future. We owe it to them. But additionally, the institutions that serve seniors must be solvent and free from waste, as we have to prepare for this increase in aging New Yorkers.
